For young children in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 the active involvement of parents or carers in children’s learning is of great importance. The school has a clear expectation that parents/carers will help and encourage the children in short activities at home. These may include playing simple games, learning letter sounds, target words, spellings and number facts and, of course, reading together each day. Guidance about our reading approach, green diaries and changing books regularly can be found on the Document page entitled Curriculum - Early Reading.
The opportunity to practise key skills in a supportive environment and to talk about what they are learning to an interested adult can be of enormous benefit. A web based learning platform is also in use and details are available on request.
