Alderton Schools Parents Association

Welcome to Alderton Infant School

This information has been put together by Alderton Infant and Junior School Parents Association especially for you, as a new family joining our school community. Starting school is an exciting time for the whole family. Studies show that there’s a direct link between parental involvement and how well children do, so why not get involved from the start! We hope this pack helps you with information about Alderton Schools Parents Association and lets you know how you can join in and support us to raise money in so many ways.

Why do we have a PA?

We are fortunate at our school to have a Parents Association that’s an integral part of the school community. Last year we were able to give both schools £2,300. This was an amazing amount considering the restrictions we faced with the Covid-19 regulations in place at the time. This meant the money that we raised helped to support both schools with many different projects including the revamping of the KS1 playground and outdoor learning area and funding/partially funding 2 enrichment days, travelling tuba and great fire of London days for the Infant school.
The junior school has spent their funds on developing their outdoor play area and have invested in an obstacle course, welly shed, sandpit. This is helping them to achieve the platinum award for the OPAL national project.

Our association is about much more than simply fundraising. We exist to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents, carers, and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It’s fun too - just ask any of the Committee members or volunteers.

All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. All families are automatically members of the PA when their child joins our school.

We hold PA meetings once a month to discuss upcoming events. We invite all parents to these meetings, and they are held in person and via Zoom to make it accessible to as many parents as possible.

Volunteers

We welcome any help from parents, carers, teachers, and friends.

Every little helps, so just one hour of assisting at event or wrapping lucky dip prizes or folding raffle tickets (just a few examples) or sharing social media posts would be invaluable. If you would like to join the PA please speak to a committee member, come along to our next meeting or email us aldertonschoolspa@gmail.com We also have a whatsapp group where you can get involved.

We cannot put on the fundraising events if we do not have the volunteers in the run up to these and on the day. Your help will really make a difference to the children of Alderton Schools.

How we keep you up to date

Our newsletter is sent by email, this includes information on upcoming events and dates as well as details of the help we are looking for at lager events.

Our main way of communicating our events and to purchase tickets is from the Classlsit app. This is the one place you will get up to date information quickly from the PA.

If you have access to Facebook, please join Parents of Alderton Infant School

If you would like to join our PA Whatsapp Group, please let a member of the team know or message Laura Rex- Chair on 07758962491 and we can arrange for you to be added to it. This is where discussions about upcoming events are held etc.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Our Annual General Meeting is held in October and provides an excellent opportunity for all parents to come along and hear in more detail about our work, the events we have run, the funds we have raised and how the money has been spent. It is also when we elect our new committee members.

Support from Parentkind

Our PA is a member of Parentkind, which is a national charity and membership organisation providing support and guidance to over 13,500 parent associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Membership includes comprehensive insurance cover by Zurich Insurance plc for all our association run events and gives access to support and advice on running the association plus fundraising ideas and good practice hints and tips.

The Alderton Schools PA

100 Club

Welcome to our 100 CLUB – a great way for you to support us whilst having a bit of a flutter!

The 100 Club helps the PA to raise money which is reinvested into equipment and resources for use at PA events and also raises money for the schools.

Half of the money raised by the 100 Club supports the PA’s fundraising activities & the schools, and the other half is used as prize money for members. So if 100 families take part the monthly prize is £50.00!

We draw the numbers quarterly at PA events or meetings. The winning number for each month is drawn in arrears.

Over the past few years this money has allowed us to purchase equipment to update the Christmas decorations , A candy floss machine as well as two card readers. We have also been able to donate £500 to each school for them to invest in equipment..

Here’s how it works…

All you need to do to join the 100 Club is to set up a Standing Order for £1 a month or multiples of this. £1 per month buys you one membership number which we will allocate. This enters you into the monthly draw. £2 buys you two memberships per month and so on…

If you win, a cheque will be posted to your address and the name of the winner published in the school’s monthly newsletter.

If you have any questions, please contact the PA. Please email aldertonschoolspa@gmail.com .

All participants must be over 16

JOIN OUR 100 CLUB TODAY AND YOU COULD BE OUR NEXT WINNER!

Thank you in advance for your support. Please complete the membership form if you would like to join and return it via email to: aldertonschoolspa@gmail.com
